The Importance of Patient Education

"Patient education is mandatory for practice success." A statement made by Prosthodontist and CEO of Practical Clinical Courses, Gordon Christensen. According to Dr Christensen, having knowledgeable staff can add to the education of patients regarding their treatment and are "essential to alleviate patient fears and thoroughly address their concerns."¹

In Flynotes, when in the review stage prior to the treatment consent signing, the Practice Team as well as patients are able to educate themselves on particular parts of the treatment by clicking on the information button (i) in the top right corner. This provides a more detailed description which includes easy-to-follow, non-medical language to accommodate all needs.
The easy-to-navigate consent tool takes the patient and Practice Team through an effortless consent journey. The patient is able to review all of this information at home removing any time limitations in the dental chair. Patients are also able to ask as many questions as they would like whilst in the consent review stage, which are automatically sent back to the Practice Team prior to treatment day.

Patients are able to further educate themselves through Flynotes regarding the risks and benefits of their proposed treatment. In the patient’s bespoke dental consent review, Flynotes offers a comparison of both the risks and benefits of the recommended alternative procedures.

Throughout each section of the treatment consent, the patient has the ability to learn more about each element of their treatment, by simply using the clickable information boxes.
All medical information stored in Flynotes is reviewed and updated regularly by a Clinical Review Panel who ensure that all details are kept up to date and streamlined with industry recommendations.

Why not go and explore this part of the treatment consent, and let us know if you learnt anything new along the way..?
