The need for Digital Transformation

The introduction of new technologies have always arguably helped businesses to adapt to the fast-paced digital world we live in today, but the pandemic has highlighted a further crucial need to enable businesses to “innovate and thrive in an increasingly digital world”¹.

According to Dell’s Digital Transformation Index 2020, who surveyed over 4,000 business leaders globally, eight in ten organisations fast-tracked their digital transformation programmes in 2020¹.

Digital Transformation is the adoption of digital technology to transform services or businesses, through replacing non-digital or manual processes with digital processes or replacing older digital technology with newer digital technology.

Digital Transformation has been “key in responding to the disruption of work and business ecosystems, and most businesses ramped up their efforts to meet this sudden change” during the pandemic. In addition, 89% of the business leaders said the pandemic “highlighted the need for a more agile and scalable IT environment”¹.

Digital Dentistry

Colin Cornish, dentistry expert at Braemar Finance, observes that according to a recent report, the digital dentistry market will be “experiencing stellar growth over the coming decade”².

More recently the adoption of digital dental technology has gathered a larger amount of momentum - with it arguably being the “way forward to satisfy the needs of the modern consumer”³ in this increasingly digital world to reiterate Cooper’s point above.

When researching the topic of digital dentistry, efficiency and experience are spoken about frequently. With the need for digital dentistry post-COVID to improve practice’s efficiency and patient experience. We recently reviewed an article regarding dental marketing and digital competitors - Dental marketing: What’s my competition doing that I’m not? The digital world of dentistry also includes the need for social media marketing, which we will go into more detail in a future blog.

How does Flynotes help digitally?

Digital platform improves efficiency in practice

Flynotes allows for patients to review their treatment consent and ask questions from home - reducing active chairtime in the practice, increasing efficiency in practice. Flynotes has proven to reduce inbound patient queries by phone by 52%. Flynotes acts as a virtual assistant to the dentist, using AI technology Flynotes sets out a consenting process for the patient that mirrors the natural conversion with the dentist. In just a few clicks, Flynotes creates a tailored consent process that allows the patient to clearly understand all aspects of consent (as set out by the Montgomery ruling). The use of digital allows for Flynotes to be a no-touch consent platform, reducing cross-contamination in practice.

Digital platform provides the patient with an effortless experience

At Flynotes we understand patients are not normally dentists and therefore, our interactive consent process allows the patient to understand each area of consent, visualise any increased risks due to their medical history or medications, and ask questions. Going one step further, Flynotes offers patients the option to view the alternative procedures available, with their own bespoke risks and benefits, to ensure that they are fully informed about their upcoming treatment. Patient feedback has been positive, with dentists saying their patients are “loving it”.

Digital Audit Trail

Flynotes provides patients with information that is easily legible and effortlessly navigable, whilst auditing all of the interaction with the consent.

Keep your eyes peeled for the next blog focusing on the need for a social media presence for marketing in dentistry. As always, let us know if you have any feedback or comments.
